I have a huge TV wall problem also, so sorry I'm not much help! We have a 65in tv now and I know he will want bigger some day, so I want to make sure my console is long enough. I was thinking art work on each side, but I don't know. Good luck keep us posted!

KC, can you post photos of the entire room? That will help. And can you take that blue painters tape and tape off an 80 inch tv on that wall?

The biggest problem is it looks like you have a traditional room (judging by the fireplace) and blending the tv in will be a challenge.

Found a photo with a corner fireplace and a large tv next to it. Your fireplace is more delicate than this one, so it will need help holding it's own. I would love to see it changed out to give it more substance. Bigger surround? Larger mantle? Paint the corner darker?

Really do think the best thing for the room with a tv that large is to "grow" the fireplace. Here surrounding the wood mantle with brick is giving it more importance. You could use that or some stone, depending on the style you like.

And, much longer console under tv and much larger plant.

With an 80" TV this will become more of a focal point. Please try to stay w/in the 65" size you have now. Unless this is your media room. Will you please post more photos of all walls of the room. You will get so much more helpful suggestions. (Probably more than you ever wanted, I think.)

Can you design a built in that covers this wall? Might help to keep the TV from being the only thing to look at while offering you a way to add color/texture/interest to the room. Also, if this is your family room, I wonder if you could talk hubby out of such a huge TV (ha!)

I would build around the TV, with a really nice and big entertainment center complete with bookshelves etc. You may have to build it yourself but I think that would look nice. I think you entertainment center is much too small and will definitely be too small for an 80 inch TV. We have a similar set up here. I am looking for a larger entertainment center also. In the meantime, put some anchors on either side. Plants, large Vase or something. Lastly, I would put the sofa facing the TV.

You can incorporate some wood cabinetry or granite shelving .Something like this .

Only this is a breakfast nook in a small kitchen , but you can get the idea.

Home goods will have some nice accessories for your room. Think big since you have the room. Sometimes when we move to a larger space we have a tendency to still decorate as if we are in a smaller space. A nice floor lamp wouldn't look bad either to replace the little lamp that you have on the entertainment center.

As I am fond of saying "you're going to have to get a longer console". With a TV that big, you may have to buy 2 and push them together, which is not a bad thing. With 2 consoles together you would have room on each end for some décor, a lamp on one end etc. I would find a great piece of art or a mirror for over the FP and then you wouldn't need to worry about the space around the TV.

I was thinking about doing "floating" storage underneath.

KC, take all the things off the mantle. They are a lot of little things and only draw attention to the size difference with the large tv.

And see how that really large plant in the corner balances the arrangement? Move your ficus over there, since you are lucky enough to have it already.

Yes!!! This is exactly what I was talking about. A larger console and some accessories on either side. Susan this is really cool. I would still consider putting the sofa facing the TV but that's just me. Very Nice!

The options showing something above the fireplace (mirror ,art ,trim work) that is higher than the TV looks great and seems an important item to balance the space. The extra long console looks like a great idea too.

An even better idea might be to diagonal the TV into the corner on the right, and then having the whole wall for some artwork and a console table.

Not saying to paint the corner fireplace wall this color, but do think we need to help it to stand up to your tv.
