BahamaDan yours looks even better than mine. I picked it a little early for a couple of reasons, first I have a Farmer's market and we're going to sample it out so people can try a homegrown pineapple. The second reason, I had mice getting in the greenhouse earlier and even though I think I got them all, I didn't want to take a chance on them eating it. They were eating my figs on my fig tree as they were getting ripe a month ago :(

heres a picture of this greenhouse, it's the only one I heat in the winter here at my business. It's 30x30, from farmtek. We have triple layer inflated plastic on it and the inner one is infared to try and save a little on heating.

Sure thing Sandy, and thank you although I'm more impressed with yours as it was grown in zone 5! That's a beautiful picture and so nice to see you making a way to grow tropical up there. Hope the rats don't bother you anymore.

That's some serious green house. I feed a lot of wildlife here too. Generally (and very unfortunately) they consider prime harvesting time for fruit is a lot earlier than what I do. I find pineapples best when you detect the fragrance while walking past them.

Nice. Did you do something to make it flower in July? Most pineapples flower Dec.-March due to the stress of winter. I have an Elite gold and a sugarloaf just starting to flower.

Let us know how it taste. Some say you need the heat to sweeten them up. If it's good, I may try to force some to flower at different times.
