I don't understand your question - deal breaker for you or deal breaker for prospective buyer? The two comments above are dead on.

It would be a deal breaker for me. Laundry is heavy and I wouldn't like to lug it any further than I have to. In recent years, builders have gone to the extent of moving laundry rooms to upper floors for that very reason. And, garages aren't usually very clean places. I wouldn't want to have to clean the laundry room before I could use it. I live in a climate where it can remain below zero all day long. That means, conceivably a load of laundry could become very cold, if no freeze when transporting it from the garage to the house. And, conversely, I used to live in Arizona where temperatures often reach 115 degrees, which makes it intolerable to do anything that deals with heat, as in a clothing dryer. Bad idea.

Depends on the weather. To make it workable, you must have a well-paved path, and practical lighting so you're not walking through mud puddles in the dark.

The building does not appear structurally sound any longer, and is clearly rotten around the sill. Best it's torn down and rebuilt. Get an inspection before buying and use the results to help negotiate the best price... If you truly think this place is that super... Best of luck.

That shack would be a deal breaker. Termites and water damage have had their way with it. It's not habitable, in any sense of the word, but especially in the legal building world sense. It's only a technicality away from being condemned.

Deal breaker for me! ... Now that I have a large mudroom with washer/dryer, would never have anything else. Laundry is no longer a chore!

I would never buy a house with the washer and dryer in a detached garage. Imagine that someone in your house gets sick in the middle of the nite and you have to wash the covers, sheets, etc. Do you really want to go outside in the rain, snow, black of nite to do that laundry? It's a deal killer for me.

Why not use the garage space for an office and keep the laundry in the
home? A detached office is great for anyone with a home based business
(for resale if not for yourself).

It would definitely be a deal breaker for me, for many reasons. Distance. Weather, both temperature and precipitation. Night time laundry. Getting dressed straight from the dryer. Night animals (skunks, possums, deer, bear, coyotes).

not a deal killer if there was a place inside i could move it to. i'd buy a quirky house IF the price was right. but it would have to be charming as hell, a great location, and the price very very right.

In Houston, this outbuilding would be infested with termites. Very likely it has lead paint if it is as old as it looks. To answer the question about where to put washer and dryer, in Houston, yes, it would be a deal breaker not to have those inside.
