hope you'll feel better soon, Linda! no quilting for me this weekend. The Hubs n I are taking a mini-vacation (since he's off on Monday and the kids won't be here for school!)...heading to Jensen Beach - a bonafide hotel - not staying with family!!!! We are celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary (was Jan 2). Typically we don't do much because it is sooo close to holidays, but this time we decided.... 45 years? yeah...we need to do Something!! It's a beautiful spot...Marriott on Hutchinson island - we were there for his sisters wedding a couple years ago. love love love it!! Hoping to find lots of sea glass and he has a new book!! (don't we sound like old fuddie duddies???? LOL) Will resume quilting/sewing on Tuesday!

I've been getting back into the groove so do plan to get some sewing done. I have 3 quilt tops I want to finish up. Since they're small, it shouldn't be a problem.

Beth, Congratulations on 45 years! In today's world, that is a great accomplishment! And a "bonafide hotel!!! I can feel your excitement and I would love to do something like that. Not fuddy duddies either. I recommend y'all be on the go as long as you can.

Thanks, Sharon and Donna! and YES! we DO have sea glass here in Florida! I found my first (ever!) piece on New Year's morning when my daughter in law and I went to the beach for sunrise! I am HOOKED. My daughter (a runner girl) finds it often, but she's out running most every morning. Yep...the hubs n me are going to try to keep moving (albeit, very slowly!) as long as we can.....we're young...LOL...I'm 65 and he's 69. He's in lots better condition than I am, but i am trying to get back to walking most days...even tho slowly. and VERY excited about getting away for the weekend...... Y'all have a great one!

I've lived in FL all my life and with all the shell collecting I've done, I've NEVER found sea glass! But I would love to. Hunting the beach for anything is such a relaxing, Zen-like experience.

I'm at the quilting stage on my quilt. I'm doing feathers for the first time and although I'm starting out a little shaky it's getting better. The very first block is finished in the center of the quilt and lo and behold, when I got it done I noticed that I had made one of the central squares with the feather going the wrong direction. UGH! Now I'm torn between leaving it or trying to rip it out and doing it over and you all know how hard it is to rip stitches with batting in between. I might just leave it as is until I'm done and then see if it is noticeable. The average person probably wouldn't see it but a quilter certainly would. The feather stem is at the right angle but I started at the wrong end and the teardrops are slanted at a different angle. I'm also worried that the thread I'm using (King Tut multicolor) will run out and the LQS I got it from doesn't always carry all the colors. I'm not a good pre-planner, I usually wing it and pay the consequences often.

Like Linda I'm fighting a cold as well, so I'm going to try and pretend I don't have a head cold and finish a top I started at retreat. It's also from Missouri star, called Pheone's flower box but I'm doing this in The original Ruby fabric...very similar to the pic below. It's so much brighter than the quilt done on MSQ. Like the other post about the illusion quilt, every 6" block, and there's 60 of them, must be trimmed before assembly.....hate this part.

Rita, I vote for leaving it as is. But, only you will be able to make the end decision.

Val, I've made that pattern a few times but not with a 4-patch. I think it's called basket weave when the center fabric is one piece. Really like that colorway.

Packed up the Lotto blocks and am now trying to decide what to do next. Lots floating around in the brain, just have to pick one and get started.

Val, I like that line of fabric. I used some of it in a quilt. Your quilt will be very pretty. Pheobe would be happy!

Finished the January blocks, will mail tomorrow. DH cut metal ruler so I can finish some Snap Happy bags. Finished sewing a vest of snowmen I started years ago. Picked out fabric for February lotto and discovered I'M out of cream and off white fabric. Darn, now I have to go shopping!

ha, Carol...so sad you have to go shopping!! Guess you'll just have to deal with it! *sympathy inserted here*. So, what a snap happy bags??? pictures??

Snap Happy bags are little bags where the opening is metal rulers so when you open and close them they "snap". Great for cosmetics. My 8 yo great niece will put colored pencils in hers. Picture shows a finished purse and also the pieces that go into making one.

Carol, how cute! Where did you find the pattern? I'm thinking I could make a pile of these for gifts. :)

Donna -that's my plan for this year, gifts for all the girls in my life that are special to me. My DH cut enough ruler pieces to make 8, I have four sewn so far and there's ruler left for a few more! Have had the pattern for a couple of years, from a LQS, but it's by Stitchin' Siusters. Pattern shows 3 different sizes, but they tell you how to make larger ones, by adjusting the fabric size. I'm having fun with this purse.
