Add shower to large bath

I need to add a shower to this large bathtub.

My first idea was to raise the tile around the lip of the tub and slope it so water will drain, tile the walls higher, and add a sliding glass door. Do you think it's possible to do?

My other idea was to add shower rods in a box shape and have the shower curtains slide. All open when not in use and just close them when showering. Similar to this, just a more custom and larger approach.

I'm also not sure what to do about the window? Will it be fine or does it need waterproofing?

Any suggestions or ideas? I'd love to hear what people have to say.

A circle shower enclosure with the needed plumbing redo to plumb it will cost almost as much as demolishing what is there and start over with the correct plumbing choices. With the added bonus of shower curtains clammily clinging to you from all sides every time you move. Showering in a circle shower is a giant PIA. With water still escaping to wreak havoc.

Needs to be completely gutted and redone with a different tub. One with an integral tile flange. And either eliminate the window or convert it to a vinyl transom window high up.

Anything less is a giant invitation to water damage. A drop in tub is not made to be used as a shower.

Even if I wrapped it with curtains? I'm not sure how water would get everywhere in that case. I'd love an explanation.

Makes sense thanks a lot. I know full renovations are 3k-10k. How much am I looking at to redo the tub into a shower?

An average bath is around 17K for just changing out what is there with no structural changes. You need structural changes. You are looking at demo, lots of plumbing relocation, exterior cladding fill in and waterproofing, interior waterproofing, insulation, drywall repair, flooring tiling, and some type of wall cladding for the tub shower. The cheap choice would be an acrylic tub and surround. You might get by with around 7-9K if you went that route. If you wanted something more upscale, like tile, up that by at least 5K.

I'd personally rebuild it as a shower only.

If you replace it with a glassed in shower in the left/rear corner, maybe 3x4(?) you'd be able to keep the window which would save money and keep the light.

^^^hard to tell the dimensions...it probably would be able to be larger than I thought.
