BM Beacon Grey

Not sure how I even came across this color... I thought it was on pinterest but I can't find a pin with that color...

Anyway...

Bought a sample of it and it MIGHT be a winner for our master bedroom, where it's "beachy" without screaming beach. :) Think master bath is sea glass green (not blueish, but green) and coral accents. The bedroom I've been intending to do a greyish blue and coral accents. I've been struggling to find one that's grey enough to not look like a baby room. What I do know is that it is NOT as blue as the computer screen swatch on their site.

Two questions:
1. Has anyone used Beacon Grey and have it look really baby blue? I'm afraid of that.

2. How do you tone it down to make it a mature space...strategic hits of black?

PS. In case it's important...

Our carpet is a medium dark grey.

Our bedroom furniture is dark brown (espresso?).

We have coral accents in there already. And sort of a slate blueish color (a darker greyish blue).

The curtains are a medium dark grey. They are heavy looking. I think the curtains are what is throwing me off with the look of the room. Need something more airy. Need to convince DH we need to change them because he really likes them. :(

I think I picked that one off the swatch at the store. I went there intending to get samples of some of the blues I have pinned, but when I saw the color on the cards I got scared of the baby-blueness so I went to the greys and picked one with blue undertones. :)

The colors I have pinned that I'd love if it would come with a non-baby-blue-guarantee...lol...

I used Beacon Gray in our bedroom and I'm very happy with it. Our bedroom tends to be dark in all but the earliest morning. It faces the east, so we get the morning sun, but by the time it's mid morning, the sun is high enough to be blocked by the trees, so there's a kind of moodiness to the light, which I happen to love. The wall color leans to the blue tones in the sun, but is grayer in the darker times. I do feel it's more blue than gray, but I don't think it's a baby nursery tone. I wonder if it would read more blue than gray by being next to true gray carpeting and drapes though? My furniture is dark mahogany in color, but the trim and moldings are a creamy white from Farrell Calhoun called Vanilla Bean, which looks fantastic next to the Beacon Gray. The overall effect is calming and peaceful. My husband says the room calms his mind after a day of number crunching. He's an accountant.

I was swimming in blue and gray paint samples and couldn't make up my mind at all. But the way I did it was to paint poster boards with the different shades that I was considering. I hung them up all over the room, moving them with the light at different times of day, and seeing how they looked with the trim and different furnishings. It really helped me to narrow it down to one color.

I'm not at home right now, so I can't take a better picture, but I've got one I can upload right now. The angle is terrible, though.

    I have it!

It definitely is blue- not grey, but a very pretty color.

At times, I think baby bluish, but I think of sitting in the room in the evening and thinking what a soft, soothing color it is.

Also have Bunny Gray in a bathroom, another good option. Another pretty pale blue/ gray is Marilyn's Dress. All Ben Moore.

My 2 guest rooms are painted Quiet Moments. It's a lovely blue-green color and very popular with good reason. Not at all baby blue.
