Minimal width for side-by-side front-loading washer/dryer set-up?

Hi. Have a laundry room in a remodel whose dimensions are minimal but might have some wiggle room. But with and the bathroom next to it, space will be at premium - bulge one and the other suffers. What have people been able to get away with on the width for the wall having a side-by-side washer/dryer? Right now mine looks spec'd to be 65" wide. Standard-size front loaders are 27" (biggers are bigger, I know, and I'll probably have to forget about that idea). Then there's the reality of door clearance where you need more room on sides for the doors to open for better access.

I assume nobody makes a front loader with funky articulating doors to address this issue?

I've also been weighing a top-loading washer but not going there yet.

Finally, stack-mounting the appliances is probably a no-go, though I know it too is an option.

(I know there's more to a laundry room than just the appliances, but for now my focus is on the machines themselves.)
