Need help with Kitchen

We are planning to renovate our kitchen on a tight budget. We would like to replace the laminate counters with granite and add a backsplash. The cabinets are nice, only 13 years old so we don't want to replace those. The only problem with them is the color, they are maple. What color granite can/should I use? BTW the doors and trim are white. Thanks for any help.
