Craigslist fails...

We haven't had a bad CL listing thread for a while and when I saw this, I thought it qualified...who wouldn't want this little desk for their child, from the mouse invested garage? What is wrong with people that they wouldn't scootch that trap out of the picture?

Kid Desk - $60

Radar2, I just realized I HAVE that exact sectional. I didn't even notice that.

And....what is really ironic is that I got it from CL. Ha!

I normally wouldn't buy anything with fabric used, but this was an exception being it was almost brand new and from a very nice clean home.

My two Jack Russells took over the "cuddle seat" section as their spot.

Here's one I found today. Only a slight misspelling. I think they meant ottoman?

Perhaps they were speaking about the "big adamant" child that refused to move for the photo.

Just not sure what to think of this?

    Interesting

This chair is suppose to be in the bedroom, but apparently has been naughty and is now in time-out in the kitchen.

    Chair

    And these!

Papa bear, Mama bear, and Baby bear stools

The Philly craigslist is normally pretty tame so I haven't had anything to contribute until now...but clearly, this was worth the wait.

The pretty lamp thread got me looking on our CL just for kicks.

In case someone is looking for another really BIG horse lamp for your living room..... Someone down here can fix you up for a mere $5000. Yep, lk, worth the wait.

We need to teach that person that he/she can get a 23 inch Empire lamp shade for a LOT less than $903.00! They sort of look like Kardashians in the first pic in the ad...

And the HORSE table above - I had to check the ad, and this is the story -

    "Horse table: 150$
My dad had this commissioned around 1990/91 from an artist near New Hope
that worked on a horse livery farm or something..I remember having to
go back and forth for him to check it, tweak it etc and I believe he
paid at least $2000 for it at the time...its definitely interesting and
unique, a must if you're into Western styles like my Pop.
    Dimensions 28 " tall, 28" length x 16" across"

I bet a designer would snap up that table in a heartbeat - look at this on 1stDibs for $2450.00!

hmmm, horse tables and lamps. I love horses, but wouldn't want either of them and none of my horsie friends want horse kitch, they want horses! I'm posting a pic of the horse lamp because once the ad is taken down it will disappear and not be available to viewers of this thread - and I think it should be!

    the $903 lampshade:

Thanks olychick. It was pretty bad just seeing the mfg name, well, branded on the horses butt too.

Oh, I missed that! Don't think I'll bother posting it....=)

Don't you hate it when your horse lamp and your pig coffee table clash?

Here is an interesting find ~ I know you all want your own!

Mario Torres Wicker Parrot Chandelier Rare! Very Large! $300.

My my, those lamps are something else! Great finds!

This bowl didn't look bad, but not sure I like where it came from

And why would someone think and old rusted potato masher would be worth $30 when a new one is $8 at this store (and even cheaper on Amazon)? Haha-as a cattlebrand iron!

Wow! I've never seen anything like that wicker light (well, the horse one either for that matter). Does the shabin have wheels? If so, it might be a nice snowbird touch for it when heading to Florida for the winter?

Neon, I wonder if you should notify law enforcement to find out if the crime has been reported? Maybe he bonked somebody with that bowl. What a thing to put in an ad...like you think it's going to make it more enticing?

I think these look really comfy and show particularly well in this room....

8 chairs for sell nice shape - $150 (Woodinville)

I knew I'd seen the horse with lamp recently: bar area of the Vanderbilt Condado, Puerto Rico.

Not CL, but from a facebook group --

ooo a couch w/coyote "phur" -- maybe if they throw in that octopus wall hanging.......

what's a "lovesac sactional"? KIDDING! what odd wording.

The potato masher is "vintage". Look at eBay for vintage kitchen. It's getting harder and harder to find anything. Everyone my parent's age has been dead long enough for all their Stuff to have gone to auction. Nothing left for me to recreate my childhood.

AHHH ~ Where else can you get your mashed potatoes with the added essential minerals of lead or iron ?

Wow, someone in Puerto Rico has great taste, huh!! And deep pockets, apparently!

Pudgeder, every time I skim over your post about the sactional, my eyes see coyote hurl instead of phur.

Phur is fake fur--thank goodness. I don't appreciate coyotes, but I was skeeved, thinking about sitting on a bunch of dead ones. Funny, I don't feel the same about sitting in my cowhide chair. :/

    She keeps "bumping" the post.

I think she can bump it until the coyotes come home, she's stuck with that "luv sactional."

I'm looking for a patio set and everytime I do a search this dog comes up:

But Cassandra, it's solid plastic, and think of the extra storage space it would provide. ;)

I love marble, but this one reminds me of a bad crime scene:

They've been trying to sell this for awhile now. Um ... ew.

"We bought it, tried it, and it's not our cup of tea."

    Ew.

    Ew.

    Did I mention - Ew?

    http://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/fuo/5492046225.html

Jen, my first thought was that people would promptly fall off of it! But, given the description and their comments, yeah ... "Ew"

    Donna

Hmmmmm ... wonder if they used it while it was in front of those windows ...

""AHHH ~ Where else can you get your mashed potatoes with the added essential minerals of lead or iron ?""

Well, iron is an essential mineral in my diet. I use an iron skillet all the time. Why would there be lead in a kitchen utensil? I have a couple of them and use them. I'm not dead yet and mashed potatoes are the top of the food pyramid at my house.

I think there was probably lead paint used on the wood handles of some of those vintage utensils that could flake into food.

Do people do this on purpose?

    Kitty play

nhb..not sure why they'd show a mattress for sale without showing the mattress! But the kitties do make for a better ad. What cats wouldn't be all over that configuration if you lifted the mattress off the boxspring? ETA: I just read the ad, guess there is no mattress just two boxsprings...

There is something really disturbing about the cartoon characters being held captive by this sectional...like they're trying to get in the picture so someone will help them escape!

Sofa still really new - $150 (Kent)

I find this super ugly and in very poor taste. Who would buy this to begin with??

This chair looks to me like something a giant cat with ulcers might have coughed up. And I see a monstrous face on the back of the chair. Hairball Chair My teenager gagged when I showed her the picture. But a bargain for only $1,600!

rory1962, yep, lots of people have poor taste--I see too many naked lady mudflaps and truck decals around here. At least someone can 'enjoy' the table in privacy.

teeda, that's the ugliest piece of furniture I've ever seen. I wonder if there's a market for hand carved Hackmatack wood chairs?

Haha! After that hairball chair I had to see what my Craigslist offered under "homemade"....

nothing even close to $1600 :)

    Antique rusty bedsprings

Individual antique rusty bed springs, 40 of them @ $5.00 each. Heavy springs all in great shape

this made me turn my chin up in confusion.

    RESTORED?

    last modified: 9 years ago

Oh, I forgot about this thread! Glad you revived it, but it's getting long, no? It is fun to have all this stuff together, however.

suero, wonder what Joanna Gaines would do with those? Not sure I want to know, but they kind of appeal to me; maybe not for decor, however.

nhb, I'm posting a pic of the rocker, since the link won't be clickable once they take the ad down (not that I think they're going to actually sell that!)Looks like they nailed some pallet boards onto it. Sheesh!

    Restored Rocker - $50 (Chuckey)

Was a wicker covered chair. I have replaced wicker with wooden bottom and back.

Last night, I saw yet another ad for a perfectly good piece of furniture slathered in chalky white paint. I actually LOL'ed when I realized this "refinished" piece was described as being "Chubby Cheek."

Errant, do you suppose they were a victim of spell check? Or just uneducated (that's my guess).

    Donna

I think I may have a splinter in my butt from just looking at that chair.

chubby cheek! that is great and a new one on me!

I love this thread!!! and I've wasted hours and hours searching my local craigslist for something to contribute. This 'table for sale' post should do nicely. :)

    Table for sale

Selling brown circular glass table the brown base is as shown in the
photo and the 4 chairs are similar to the base the glass is very thick
    and it is circle

That wicker thing is appalling. The duct tape wallet.....homemade tic tac toe.....truly, we have become Trash Nation.

On my craigslist today there is a floor lamp that looks pretty nice advertised for $65.00.....the title of the ad and within the ad, in bold...."STAND UP LAMP".

No where does it mention 'floor lamp'. I replied, nicely, to the ad suggesting they would reach more buyers if they included 'floor lamp' somewhere in the ad.

partymusic, that pic made me laugh out loud! - Maddie, you are very kind. I sometimes want to suggest edits, too. Then I figure maybe there's someone out there looking for a Stand Up Lamp. :-)

I see things like "sitting chair" listed all the time. Not sure what the other kinds of chairs would be for.

Olychick, I received a thank you email from the seller. He/she couldn't remember the right term. The ad has been edited, hope the lamp sells.

TR - A splinter would definitely give one a "Chubby Cheek".
