We're in the middle of remodeling our main living space. We've already stained our windows and baseboards in the sunken living room and need to choose a hardwood floor to go in the dining and foyer areas, which abut the living room. The living room will have carpet, which we also haven't selected yet.

Should the hardwood floor color match the living room trim color, since it can be seen from the other areas?

We plan to do white baseboard with the wood floor--not ideal to have the white baseboard next to the stained baseboard, but that's what we're planning.

The wall color is Dunn Edwards Desert Grey, which I'm thinking of changing since it's so cool compared to the warm orangey color of the wood trim.

Any suggestions about flooring? (and paint color?) The hardwood flooring will abut the kitchen porcelain tile, which looks kind of like a travertine.
