After my backsplash install, the tile behind my range was not sealed properly. As a result, a third of the decorative tile area got stained.

Also, the row of white subway tile that was supposed to frame the decorative area right below the hood vent (circled) was mistakenly omitted.

I have the option to replace the stained tiles, and add the upper white subway tile border if I like. Or, I could just leave it alone.

Reasons to leave it alone/move on:

- I am the only one who will notice the stained tiles, or the added row of white tile

- hubby doesn't think either the stain or the lack of a border is a big deal, and doesn't want to risk any damage to the sheetrock behind the tile, range, etc. that could occur during the repair

Reason to proceed with the repair:

- Both the stained tiles and the lack of white border really bothers me, aesthetically. The work was not done correctly, and I think it should be fixed.

- Contractor says that any unintended damage that occurs during the repair (sheetrock behind the wall) can be fixed.

Would you leave well enough alone? Am I splitting hairs?
