Shower Niches

We are using porcelain tile in our new showers but would like to do the shower niches all in a coordinating Caesarstone so they would be cleaner and more water resilient (no grout). The Caesarstone is thicker than tile, though, so we have been told to let the solid surface protrude a bit from the tile wall so that we get an adequate depth for our shampoo bottles, etc. "There is only so much depth in a wall." Since the edges are finished, it sounds ok. Any pitfalls in doing this, design wise or otherwise?
