2016 February Block Lotto

This lotto is open to all and new quilters are encouraged to participate. You will learn much and have fun doing it. Eeven if you don't like the current month's block think about doing at least one. The winner will appreciate your efforts!

- you can send 1, 2 or 3 blocks

- all blocks must measure 12.5inches x 12.5 inches with no more than 1/4" variation please. With your blocks include name, mailing address, forum name and $1 to cover postage for the winning blocks

- if possible, either attach your name to the back of each block or write your name in the seam allowance with a fabric pen so the winner knows who made the block (this is not a requirement, just a request)

- all blocks received by the last day of the month will be included in the lotto drawing

- you will have 1, 2 or 3 chances to win, depending on how many blocks you've sent in.

Blocks are to be mailed to Linda. She will arrange the collection and dispersal to the winner. If you need her mailing address, you may request it by sending her a message at linda at schultz-assoc .com

- Where it says off-white, beige, cream or tan that means any variation of beige; solids, tone-on-tone, small prints, etc.

    Thanks everyone, I can't believe I won these blocks - there must have been some divine intervention with that, from my mom (who passed away this past June). Let me tell you why - my birthday is next week and growing up in NJ, flowers were rare for my Winter birthday. But every January mom would cut some forsythia branches and place them in a bucket of water and keep it either in the garage or laundry room, to force the blooms. On my birthday I'd be greeted with yellow flowers at breakfast. As the years went on yellow daffodils or tulips would join the forsythia blooms and I always knew that Spring was fast approaching.

    When I saw this block I knew I wanted to try to make it and thanks to the hint of how to make the stem, without hand sewing it, I was able to get it done. While making it I thought of mom and her love of flowers. I also realized it would be my first birthday without her and no flowers from her. So to have won these blocks I know she had something to do with it, to let me know that I'd have flowers for my birthday. They may not be from her but they're from a wonderful group of people, who I've been learning so much from, so thank you.

    I'm thinking yellow sashing and borders. What do you all think?

      Had to sit out January, but plan to participate this month. Just to be clear, can the green be any shade of green (as long as it looks like a flower stem)? Also, can the flowers be any light/dark color? Say yellow or orange? Or are we limited to pink, purple, and blue? Thanks.

      Jennifer -- yes, any green that could be a stem is fine. Also, yellow or orange are fine too. Just use a light & dark - I will edit the post.
