I'd go with the white subway tile, with white grout. You want your counter to be the star here.

I agree with London Staging and Design. I just had a client go with a full height backsplash in the same Calacatta Nuvo material as the countertop and it looked beautiful, gave it the classic clean look. However, if you cannot afford the full height then I would go with the solid grey to match the vein. Mixing and matching real marble and marble mimics is tough, especially with a color like Calacatta Nuvo. Calacatta Nuvo is not "white". It has a more creamy/off white background, which in my opinion will look very funky in your kitchen with white subway tile. My opinion is to match the veining. Good Luck!

but do you really want gray backsplash with gray cabinets? with white cabinets, I'd have suggested the same, but here...

I'd find a white that brings something to the table, maybe a glass or a subtle mosaic with some sparkle...

You should start looking now but wait until the counters and cabinets are installed before choosing a backsplash. Things look different in real life than they look in the showroom. Don't create another dilemma for yourself.

Also, do not let the counter installers add the 4" backsplash up the wall.

I totally agree with leelee. Do not do anything regarding backsplash until after you cupboads and counter are in. Different light situations, day/nite and so many other things make such a difference.

I would love to wait and see for the backsplash- but the contractors want it all specified now, so they can start the job and finish within the week so don't think there is any time to mull it over unfortunately.

@Sprovieri's Custom Counters, are you saying matching the grey in the vein so a solid grey tile? I think it has to be white - or cream to match the base of the quartz. Are there stones with creamier undertones that aren't stark white

Great news! My GC agreed to install the rest and let me see how it looks and then pick the backsplash- that will really help me to decide as I will actually see in person. Then I can pick up several samples and see in person. THEN i can have more decisions to make !

I have the same delemia I have decided on Calcutta Nuevo and am doing Chelsea grey for my island cabinets. I want white for all the rest. Can't find one that works! Looked at dove white, simply white, mountain peak....looking for a suggestion that does not make the Quartz look to yellow or dull. Help!!

We just installed MSI Calacatta Laza for our countertops and love them! We used BM White dove cabinets and SW Acier gray for the island.
