We finally got them to agree to move the switches in case we decided we'd rather have the sliding door. And now.... we logged into our portal to see if we had a construction start day listed yet and saw our official plat/survey was in. We looked at it and somehow between the one we signed off on that showed all of the easements this one now has a 35' x 150' "emergency flood route" and "emergency flood route area". We called the surveyor's office and that is a definite no go to fence in or put basically anything in. So we're paying $$$ for a culdesac lot that we can't hardly fence (because of the weird way a lot of them sit on culdesacs). So we have a meeting this week with the area manager. Absurd... if you don't remember we went through issue after issue with these people and actually stayed. Now this!! And our realtor is actually thinking they will throw a fit about it because "they have money into the house already" etc. etc. We will obviously hire a real estate lawyer if necessary, but the way I see it we signed NOTHING that said we were ok with an emergency flood route taking up a huge chunk of our backyard, making it unusable. We signed off on the lot diagram that showed the regular easements. So mad we've waited almost 4 months to start this house and now this... >:(
