Hello Houzz Community! I need your help. I live in a very "cookie cutter" open concept spec house and it drives me nuts. However, this is where we live for this span of time, so I'm trying to make the best of it! We have one very wide wall that is our only wall in our living room and also vaults asymmetrically. After months of researching on pinterest, house, the general internet, my DH and I decided to get a few bookcases to try and add some vertical interest to the living room. Please note this is an interior wall and we played around with the idea of direct venting a fireplace (because we don't have one) in the center, but the cost is too much and losing the precious square footage is not going to be worth it for resale. So, we have our love seat with the two bookcases flanking it and my piano to the right. This is the only wall that I could put a piano on.

We would like to achieve a more "built-in" look with these two book cases and are planning on caulking the sides to the wall once they settle in (our walls are very curvy) for a few days/weeks. We are also playing with the idea of adding crown molding to the top of the bookcases but are afraid we will lose the modern look we like, and are also afraid that it will look odd without having built-ins in the middle.

Basically, I'm looking for any ideas or help on how to achieve a more built-in look in this space - I've seen all the ikea hacks and they are great, but we don't have a fireplace or an end of a wall to build into, so we are trying to make do the best we can. I feel like I am out of ideas and google / pinterest search terms. This is our main level living room. We have a daylight finished lower level which is where we keep our tv.
