After this last storm, he had better be right. I'm all wintered out and ready for summer.

I'm always a little dismayed (if that is the right word) when I read about snowfall amounts of 12"+. It results in big problems here.

Storms leaving that amount of snow are also very rare. I'm nearly 50 years a local but I doubt if I'd need all my digitS to count those 12" storms. What Colorado has going for it, are the wild temperatures and sunshine ...

We sure haven't had any 67º afternoons! There was a few weird winter days in the low 50's. It rained, some. I've nearly forgot when I last saw the weak, horizon-hugging sun. It was one of those recent days when it snowed-all-day. Yeah, somehow the clouds parted to allow a little light thru while tiny flakes continued to drift down. They all mostly melted on touching earth.

The snow is nearly all gone from my yard but "several" inches may fall tonight. Some of this snow has been here since November but it never amounted to 12" ... maybe. The 53º afternoons and rain took care of most of it. Freezing overnight, thawing several hours in the afternoon, pitch-dark or grey, a 6º thermometer - typical 24 hours of hated winter. Oh, hate is too strong a word ... February 2nd again today, isn't it? Same as before, same as awhile before, same as long before, same . same . same . same

It seems here along the front range that winter starts breaking up the last week of February. The days are longer, the ground usually becomes unfrozen and some plants start popping up. Not too much longer.
