I recently used Kona cotton turquoise. It does bleed even after 2 washes. However, I washed it with pieces of other fabrics used in the quilt and none of the them (including Kona ivory) picked up the blue. Some colors just bleed no matter what fabric - especially turquoise. Use a couple of color catcher sheets when you wash your completed quilt.

Kona cotton fabric did bleed for me. I've used Kona dark blue, deep red, and dark brown. I pre-wash my fabric (until it no longer bleeds), so can't comment on transfer issues, since I've not (yet) experienced that problem. Good luck!

It will bleed some. I am a pre-washer and use color catchers and haven't had any problems with finished quilts.

Be sure not to use laundry detergent that says it gets blood stains out. I heard there is a chemical in there that doesn't like batiks (sp?) and such. Always pre wash and shrink. At least you know what you are dealing with.

Does this brand of cotton normally bleed? I saw it in the store last week, but had not decided what colors I wanted at that time. I am about to make a baby quilt as a gift, and even though I plan to pre-wash (how many times?), the recipient will not know about of have these "color catchers" available to her.

I'm not experienced enough to answer all your questions, but some folks include a color catcher and washing instructions with each gift quilt.
