Vinegar or salt will do the job. Put some laundry detergent in a jar with hot water, shake till it's full of suds, then add a teaspoon of white vinegar, see what happens. Then try the same with table salt.

You may also want to buy detergent designed for high efficiency washers that doesn't foam so much. Or use a lot less detergent.

The HE (High Efficiency) detergents are created to reduce suds while still providing a great clean. You never mentioned what type of machine you have nor what type of detergent you use, nor if your water is hard or soft.

I just called in the technician for this last week! Turns out my detergent is very concentrated and the amount I was using was way over the recommended limit on the container. Check out the instructions on your detergent container.

I did an overnight soak in a lot of OxyClean, then did the high spin. I think there was too much of it left in towels that I did add too much detergent. I generally use on HE detergent, but this time I used some older Caldea Linen Wash. I love their products, and even tho' I thought I was using little enough, but still overdid it. re: salt, we use a pure sea salt-which I'm not using for laundry! Did add a LOT of VINEGAR, which really made a difference. Thank you all!

I use 1 TBLSP of detergent HE type for a load of laundry. I was told the worst thing you can do to a front loading washer is using too much detergent it also makes the wash cycle run much longer because the washer is trying to get rid of the suds.
