My dog is a seven and a half year old Golden Retriever her appetite went to nothing for about 3 days and started panting at night, she was also lethargic, but was able to go on her walks. Previously Golda has been healthy and very energetic. Visited our vet on the 27 Jan. She has a very enlarged spleen on on ultrasound, no lymph nodes or masses seen, abdomen is distended. On the blood work, platelet count on the machine measured 0 , but when my vet checked the slide she did see some, but very few. Her erlicia wrong spelling I know test was negative for the tick bite. She was also very anemic.. She was put on prednisone 50 mgs twice a day.
Todays check: 3 Feb. Her WBC Has gone from 25.22 to 50.92, metamyeolocytes and bands present , (normal 6.00-17.00.) Haematocrit was 14.25 and today is 31.42 (normal 37.00-55.00%) Her RBC have gone from 4.64 down to 1.96 today (normal5.50-8.50) platelets went from 0 to 81 (Normal 200-500) Neutophils 42.46 (normal 3.00-12.00) MO% 8.7 (normal2.00-4.00) HCB was 10.7 on the 27th, today it is down to 5.8 (normal 12.0-18.0) My poor Golda is so quiet today. Really not well. Unfortunately we have a long week end coming up. I'm so scared she has a cancer hiding, hoping for some thing treatable that she can live a happy life on. I hate to see her like this.
Please any advice would be so welcome. We see our vet again on Tuesday, but can call her in an emergency.
