Backsplah...think I found the answer!

I have had beige, brown, grey, mustard, copper, pewter, and every colour in between. I have ordered samples from Sonoma and Fireclay. Nothing has been quite right. It may look good with the counter, but doesn't mesh with what I want the overall 'look' to be.

So I think white. Soft white to coordinate with the cabs. I had 1 sample that was too yellow. This one looks like a contender (ignore the swirly tiles). I have another sample coming in a more rectangular 2.5× 10 shape or so.

So. What say you? My dh just tells me everything looks good! Thanks!

Gah! I'm ridiculous! If you click on the pic it won't be all squishy! Thank you happy2bgw!

Wow! I love it! I am so happy you found something you love. It is such a classy look, very elegant.

Thanks, not getting much love in kitchens! I think you have all seen my plight over the past few months, years...however long it's been!

Will pick up a more rectangular tile as well. See of the colour is good with the cabs and if the shape would modernize/contemporize it a bit.

But these tiles say they "are a traditional tile for contemporary people" :) lol!

I can't believe how well it goes with your cabinets. I really like it as it takes nothing away from the granite or cabinets, yet coordinates well. Sort of brings the 'top' and 'bottom' together as a good backsplash should.

I think it looks great. Clean and classic.

I like your pulls, too--what are they?

When in doubt, keep it simple. Yours is the Cambria, right? I like it too!

if you go in this direction, maybe you can find a grout that will tie in with the counter?

Why didn't we think of this sooner?!!!!

    The only thing that is white in my house are doors, trim, tubs and toilets. I fully did not intend to like your white backsplash as I scrolled down to see it, but, I LOVE IT! What do those kitchen girls know anyway? (;

Love LOVE the backsplash! Where did you find it?

Thank you all! I did xpost as I think it was suggested to me last round of BS to see what their thoughts were. But, I think you guys are more my peeps :) And there was a bit more love after...

pudgeder- it's adexUSA Neri collection in bone. I went to a tile shop I don't frequent often, yet he remembered me and that I was NOT looking for white last go around.

    Thanks monicakm_gw!

ellendi61- it might have been thought of...but I think poo poo'd probably by myself the last time after thinking how hard it would be to find a white to go that wouldn't make my cabs seem dirty. But really, it seems to make the most sense. I can only get tile from so many countries before I have to stop the madness!

And yes, Cambria Canterbury. Always matched with travertine squares in pictures online. Which DO NOT GO. If there is 1 thing I've learned from GW! And the grout, thinking of a taupe. My tile guy leaves me a bunch of samples after he installs tile so I can pick.

    lisad82- pulls are Amerock Rochdale

    PULLS

OutsidePlaying- it does pull it together! I can see how a more subdued mustard would also work, or beige...but doesn't go with my 'vision'. Or hallucination. Whatever :)

I'd really like to see you integrate an accent tile to break up all of the white.

Thanks k9arlene! I am so against accent tiles. But I can totally see where it would look good in this situation. I will have to think more about this because I totally see your point. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Good choice, happy you finally found something and it looks great. Now what about the grout color?

    eta no accent tile.

RoseAbbey- Some kind of taupe that will coordinate with the counter. I like that my tile guy leaves grout samples for me to decide overnight after he's done the tiling. But some kind of warm taupe, not too dark. I think!

And thank you for the opinion on the accent tile!

I would not use the decorative listello at the top of your run, but would instead use the subway tile all the way to the top of your backsplash. That decorative style already looks dated.

adding, no decorative tile inserts, either.

    akl_vdb thanked User

kswl, I think she said to ignore that decorative listello as she wasn't using it. It's probably part of the sample board.

OutsidePlaying is exactly right kswl2! It's part of the sample board! Just subway tile!

I'm not suggesting this one in particular, but something along these lines.

The white against the white is so soothing. Thanks for that visual k9arlene!

But kswl2, pics are what bring us here. Otherwise it's blah blah blah, backsplash, blah blah! No worries! I'm glad you caught that though...if I was considering the swirls, I would have rethought immediately! Unless I loved it :) Which I don't!

I wouldn't do an accent tile. I think it would interfere with the subtle beauty of your bs tile. I have to say that your's is one of the loveliest choices I have seen. It is truly elegant!

Wow Holly-Kay...such high praise! Thank you so much. I feel at peace with this choice. I will check out the other white sample the tile store owner recommended (he just did his backsplash with it) and they have glossy or matte. And 2.5 x 10 or something. So will get all my options out of the way, but am loving the white that coordinates with the cab.

The dark tile that kitchens photoshopped for me looks amazing, but I I feel at one with the white :) after all my posts and colours.

Maybe do a sample board of your grout choice, to be on the safe side.

    Am going to start a new thread re: size of tiles. The options are all ADEXUSA "neri" 2x8 ($26.25sq.ft (!) ) 3 x 6 subway ($10.59 sq.ft) 4x8 ($15.25sqft) 4x12 ($16.50)

So for sure will not do the 2x8. Just too much $$. The others are fine.

    Or 3x12 " city" 3×12($ 15.95 sq.ft).

I'll post the links as well.

They also have finished edges to them. Do I do a finished edge or do the schluter?

I did go to the tile store and got 2 more different samples. No good. Too white, too long and narrow (2.5 x 15) or too matte.

    Thanks!

And omg, how did I not realize that I spelled backsplash wrong??

That sample from your KD is much too jarring. But, maybe consider something like a white relief tile in either a listello or randomly placed. There are those that like accent tiles and those that absolutely don't. Rarely will you find someone in the middle :)
