Lartomato, thanks for the suggestion!! I searched Large Red Cherry out and discovered it was a later variety (80 days to maturity)... I neglected to mention that I was hunting for an early cherry tomato with sweet full flavor. :)

Christa, I was very happy with my order. It arrived promptly. I planted 4 seeds from the 2 packets and I got 4 plants. (I hate cutting one off from each cup, but it's gotta be done). :) I wished I had ordered more after I had already placed the order. I should have browsed more, but that always gets me into trouble. I'll bookmark it and order from her again next year. Definitely a repeat businesss experience.

Thanks, Fireduck! Unfortunately, I enjoy the ride a little to much and find myself knee deep in tomatoes and running them all over the neighborhood at harvest time! :)

I also ordered Ample from Tatianna. I too have been looking for an good OP cherry tomato. Hopefully this one will fit the bill.

Roper, I noticed that my Ample tomato plant is not as tall as the 0-33 that is growing next to it and started at the same time. 0-33 is a determinate one, so I expected it to be the smaller one. Tatianna did say that Ample was producing from lateral shoots, so maybe it isn't a tall tomato. I am growing these for pots in my window well so I can see what they taste like before I put them in my garden. :)

I'll let you know how mine grow. I'll be starting some seeds today.

Sey, that looks like an interesting bunch. I have tried Riesentraub, but it was late for me and not quite sweet enough. The brown tomato above on the paper towel looks amazing!! Sort of like a cross between a grape and an olive!! I want to love those dark tomatoes so very badly, but I can't seem to get my tongue wrapped around them. It wants to taste sweet and mild, which they aren't, but my eyes loves the looks of them. In all fairness, I have only tasted Black Cherry and didn't like it.

The other problem is, different climate, soil, fert and moisture all make a difference to a certain degree. Let us know how that dark tomato comes out for flavor, will you? You might have a new favorite on your hands that the whole world would love!! :)

Rebecca ,... I have grown HGT before . It is a MICRO dwarf, that a 3 gallon pot is big enough for it. Its height is about 12". Very cute.

I am growing the other two for the first time. So I don't know exactly what to expect.

Sey, I can tell you are another organized woman!! I love your seed sowing technique! You will probably love Reisentraube, if you love the black tomatoes. It has a nice full tomato taste, as I recall. It just took too long to ripen here. Our season is so short that I am always on the lookout for short season varieties. I grow Goose Creek which isn't really early, but I am so hooked on that plant that I'd grow it for just one tomato. :)

My Ample plant was the first one to sprout, but all the others that have sprouted later are bigger than the Ample now. It seems to grow slow as a seedling..

Roper, thanks for keeping in touch! My Ample plant was planted more than a week later that my other tomatoes... Even so, it is now blooming ahead of the others. It still remains shorter than the rest, but is tucked away in my window well and doing great! 16 degrees here last night and all is well in the window well!!! :)

Mine are plans now and want to go in the garden. It won't be long. This coming Tuesday their wish is coming true. by then the temperatures are going to be right ; lows 40F and highs reaching as high as 70F.

Right now I am cold treating my plants inside. Have lowered the temperature to 60F and lower.

Hey, Sey!! I have some really interesting outcomes so I am going to start a new thread. All the plants are alive, but Ample and 0-33 are outstanding!!! Glad to see your babies are headed for the dirt! That is such an exciting time. I will start my "outside" tomato plants tomorrow!! Also, I want to say I am sorry that I thought you were a woman... Don't know why I did. I just tend to open my mouth and insert my foot more often than most people!!

I am following your other thread on 0-33 . That sound amazing cold tolerance.

Most tomato plant are much tougher than most of us think. I have put them to test down to mid 30s many time, with no problem.

This Tuesday, I will be taking a bunch of my plants out side to get some spring training ( Hardening off). Weather permitting, they will be planted out starting April 6, 7 on .

I'm growing Large Red Cherry tomatoes for the first time. We bought a 4 pack at the local Ace hardware store. Out of the 15 tomatoes I am growing they are growing faster and look very sturdy. They all looked the same when I bought them.

Cherry tomatoes , in general, grow faster and taller. But I grew some kind of red cherry last couple of days that were not as tall and big.

I am growing Riesentraube for the first time. It is supposed to be a multi-flora with good size grape shape fruits. We shall see.

I have grown large red cherry for years and we love them- a large mouthful and great tomato teast. In the past I saved seeds and always had good luck with growing back the same. I had a large envelope full but threw them away when we moved and I said I wouldn't grow matters again. Wish I had all the seeds of different matters that I had saved. Guess I'll just have to start over. Gotta save seeds.
