Michele, thank you for your question. Our stone and quartz team recommends using a magic eraser or hot water to remove the mark. They also suggest using Soft Scrub.

I have been looking all over the web for pictures of the Daltile statuary countertops installed in a kitchen, and have come up short. Could you post a few pics of your counters so my wife and I can get a better idea of what these counters look like installed?

We decided to go with a different quartz brand. I cook a lot , have young kids and the staining concerned me. Having to scrub out a pencil mark seemed extreme for a quartz surface. They are beautiful but I wasn't willing to take the chance.

What did you decide to go with? Was it another marble look alike? Can you send a pic of what you did choose?

It isn't installed yet. There are a ton of choices out there. Just google marble look alike quartz.

Which company did you go with? We are trying to choose between viatera, quartzmaster and daltile.

I went with Cabmbria. It was between them and Caesarstone.

I was under the impression that quartz is extremely durable no matter what company one goes with, it's just a matter of the look you choose. I happen to have chosen Statuary and now I'm concerned... any thoughts?

I have repeated your experiment today with our Daltile Statuary sample, and here it is is after 20 min of scrubbing with a sponge, dishwashing liquid, liquid soap, and baking soda. The ink pen and yellow highlighter stains were gone in a split of a second, but the pencil mark is impossible to remove. I removed pencil from our Cambria sample with just wet paper towel. So upset, I really love this design!

Here is the spotless Cambria. It feels much smoother, too, though both samples are marked as Polished.

I did an experiment recently with several products I'm considering for a design project.

The One Quartz Surfaces sample may be different from an actual slab sample, but I could not get out the marker and ink with a magic eraser. The pencil did come out after scrubbing with a wet magic eraser. I was able to get out the marker, ink pen and pencil with WATER ONLY on my Vicostone samples. Neolith honed performed well with all marks coming out with the magic eraser. I hate to say anything negative about Daltile products because I absolutely love their One Quartz slab designs and their fabulous tile products! Perhaps the sample was not polished as much?
