I would match whatever is being done with the rest of the kitchen (space above cabinets).

Sorry I don't have a picture for you, but above our fridge the builder put in a cabinet which matched all the other cabinets. It looked great but inside was the best - he added 8 or so vertical dividers so I could use the space for thinks like cookie sheets and long shallow casserole dishes. It's terrific.

The thing is that all the cabinets go around at the same hight do I am not sure how it will look to have this extra cabinet above. Molding is also installed all sround at the same level. The only question now is to build the "box" above the fridge's molding or leave it like now ( on the picture)? Thank you!

I would leave it as it is, since the molding is all the same level. I agree with you that a box above would look bulky.

Box is too bulky. Stay under the molding--it looks very nice!

Thank you so much for your advise. Renovating a kitchen is a big and stressful thing and not every decision is easy ( especially for me :) )

i see so many pictures with kitchens go all the way to the ceiling (design or dust consideration) and I am concern with leaving a space...

When you say "box" do you mean extending the grey soffit out over the fridge? If so, I'd extend the soffit. It will disappear because it's just part of the wall and you won't have to dust up there. As well, the transition from crown molding to wall will be uniform. Right now it looks like your fridge isn't finished growing. ;)

These pictures look like my case if I'd enlarge the soffit with only difference that my fridge is not a counter depth one, but 28 1/2" so I would need to push the soffit 28" forward and I am afraid it will be too bulky. Also, I did my pot lights simmetrical from both sides on the ceiling and if I'd cover this much ceiling from one side they won't be symmetrical anymore.
