If I were a couple of hundred miles further north, I would be able to help you, but as it is I'm a bit too far away.

I think you should perhaps reconsider taking care of the bromeliads yourself. The ones in the ground should only require light watering in the dry season, but the ones in pots may need repotting, and I can see how you would need help with that. I have mine on a sprinkler system, but I do have a friend from Sacramento who helps me with repotting once a year.

There is a bromeliad society in San Francisco, and perhaps someone from there can help you.

So sorry to hear about your wife, but I do hope that you can keep some of the bromeliads with you in her memory.
