Appliance decoration - 12,000 budget

Hello all! I have a 12,000 budget for appliances in a new home. Washer/Dryer, range, fridge, and dishwasher. I definitely want a gas stove top (potentially with an electronic oven), and a good quality dishwasher (we are soon to have two kids). Any recommendations would be awesome! Thanks

That's a top quality piece @ $5199 plus you would get the dishwasher for free (basically a bosch with Thermador handles)

Laundry I would recommend Electrolux or LG.

That pair can be had around $2100 with a gas dryer. A little less with electric.

That totals $10,300 before tax. That's a high end, top quality range and dishwasher, solid refrigerator and hood, plus good front load laundry. All this assumes sizing and that you live in the US. Hopefully this gives you a good starting point. If you went with Gas you could even get into a larger 36" range for only about $500 more with thermador's program.

What are your general thoughts on brands, brand levels? Any one of those appliances rank higher than others? Anything you think you'd try to really go more budget so you can splurge on things you really want?

Great question. A good oven and gas range are important as I love to cook. I don't want a fancy fridge - no water or ice. I am not tied to one particular brand. Thanks

Just to clarify, do you want a dual fuel range, or a gas cooktop and separate electric oven?

Also, if you want to cook with gas, do you have a means or plan for exhaust?

Bosch is a good bet for a dishwasher. They aren't the cheapest, but most models are highly rated. Look for a DW that is quiet. Our Bosch has a red light that shines on the floor to indicate when it's on so we don't open it up while running.

A dual fuel range would be great. A gas cooktop with electric oven. 30 inches. I look into the DW.

I bought Whirlpool Gold appliances-refrigerator and dishwasher, not the top-of-the-line, they have been wonderful. I bought a Frigidaire stove and it has rusted and their warranty does not cover rust. It began rusting within the first three to six months of ownership. For the fridge, I definitely like the fridge on top-freezer on bottom but if you use a lot of frozen foods that won't work for you. If you use gallon containers, I would take an empty gallon container to the store with you and place it in the various refrigerators and see where it will or won't fit. Many are designed to take quarts not gallons in the door and some limit the shelf height. I insisted on having a slide out shelf in the fridge....I never use the feature. I do use all of the space available in the extrawide fruit and vegetable drawers.

I have the kitchenaid krfc302ess refrigerator. It's 72" tall but if you can fit it in it gives you extra cu. ft. Comes to 22 cu ft. That extra space will probably come in handy for a family of 4.

It's not very fancy but we have a LG fridge w/ freezer on the bottom and it works really well. We're very pleased with it and it gets really good consumer and third party reviews. The savings could allow you to get a really nice range.
