Hanging curtains in an open concept Living Room & Kitchen

Pls help me how to hang curtains in this open concept living room that also shares a kitchen with a large patio door that already has blinds???

I plan to hang curtains high up above the blinds in the living room, and leave the patio door in the kitchen (right side) as is with the blinds already there. Can I break up the room by just hanging curtains in the living room, and then leave the kitchen blinds as is? Or will it look weird?? Pls help!!

either match heights or go to the ceiling with your drapes.

if you love your vertical blinds (and i love mine) and are replacing them, measure them to go to the ceiling as well.

Blinds are for privacy and light control. Drapes provide color, texture and warmth. With open concept make sure blinds are the same , walls the same or tonal, drapes the same or coordinating in color style , hardware. Its technically the same room.

Dump vertical blinds. They should be the same style. They are a personal thing. I don't care for them. Even just one panel of drapery would bring flow.

Just to clarify, the patio door in my kitchen (right in pic below) are vertical blind). Horizontal blinds are in the living room (left).

My issue is that if I hang curtains where the patio door is with the blinds already there, I dont have much room on the right side to play for the curtains. I wouldn't be able to "widen" my curtains to the right if u know what I mean?

I just want to hang curtains in the living room space because I know I have enough space wall to play with. But then will it be weird if I dont drape the blinds to the right of patio door in the kitchen???
