Kitchen update

Would like to freshen up the kitchen. I am personally tired of these honey colored maple cabinets since we've had them for 10 years....but they are solid quality. I just recently had the center island painted KM Riverbank to coordinate a bit with the granite as there was just too much maple everywhere. I thought about painting the cabinets a cream with glaze but my husband really likes the maple. What else can I do to the kitchen without spending a lot to update it? Crown mounding up top with same KM color? Something up the walls from cabinets up?
Assumptions are that we will be restraining the kitchen hardwood floors to same honey oak color and will be putting in hardware for sure. Thanks for any ideas!

The island looks great, now paint the walls a color to match a shade or two lighter, the walls are looking warm compared to the island , I believe that would help tie the island to the walls and make the room come together without painting the cabinets

Try adding some hard wear to the cabinets something in the tone of your light over the island, that will bring some warmth in as well

I agree about the floors...do not change them. New wall color, new lights above the island, large colorful rugs, etc would be great!

For sure those island lights have to be replaced, they do nothing for your kitchen. The back splash looks dark, is it really that dark in real?

Granite is dark green/gray/brown. What would you do with island lights?
I've also thought about accenting a walk or two with stone... Thoughts?

One thing that is adding a lot of wood color is the paneled fridge. I have seen much less of the paneled fridge these days. However, that looks like a high end fridge, so nothing you would be replacing. I don't know if you can get regular doors for it - or maybe paint it the color of the island? I'm not sure about that, but I throw it out there for thought.

I have wood cabinets and I like them, but I only have them on two walls - so not overwhelmed by wood. You might be able to lose the small cabinets over the stove and put in a stainless hood. Again it looks like you might have a good vent insert now and would not want to replace it, but perhaps a new cover?

No stone, it's not going to add to your kitchen. Here are a few samples of fixtures for island. The last one is not a fav of mine, but it's in a kitchen with lots of wood .

Also one of the pictures has the stainless hood, maybe you could change yours.

Above ideas about fridge and hood are great and would help remove some of the wood.

No stone, keep the granite the star, too many textures with that granite will ruin it, just paint and light fixtures with new hard wear

What fixtures would make it pop? And yes frig is subzero custom built in with those maple cabinets....

I repainted my honey oak, got new granite, new glass tile backsplash, new sink and faucet and hardware. I did all the painting myself. We got the granite from Home Depot for 3k installed on sale, another $600 for the tile and to have it installed, the sink and faucet came from Lowes as did the pulls, all for less then $500. We had under cabinet and up lights installed for around $600. So for less then $5k we totally transformed our kitchen. I will show you the before (meaning before I lived here) and after pics. Judge for yourself.
