Absolutely lovely, and that taupe is so light i do not even see it?! there is absolutely no problem with the taupe in the room, even if it is darker. We are being promised more color in the future. But it is also always a very good choice to go neutral. Having said that, most houzz people will tell you there is nothing neutral or modern about a big black leather sectional. I suspect that this one is pointing the wrong way because there is not enough room to point it towards the fire place and windows.

Do you have color preferences? I assuming blue is one. is there any way we can see the two wood tables? that could help a lot. Also how many do you normally seat here?

I would definitely keep the white trim. Are you going to keep the same furniture layout as the staging shows?

I would want to actually point the sectional in the opposite way than the one in the picture. have the back of the sectional facinthe patio doors almost creating two spaces. one for watching TV entertaining and one for sitting by the fire and exiting to the backyard. I would be inclined to get a grey leather sectional but something about grey leather just doesn't appeal to me.. I think u can make a really nice black leather low profile sectional look modern... am I wrong? I only like leather because of keeping it clean. Here's a similar picture of the coffee table that I already have. And a picture of a similar rug colour and style only bigger I would love to incorporate. Need all the help I can get..

I like that softer greyish taupe leather sectional..how do incorporate blues and darker browns ? And since everyone is being so helpful I posted two pictures of a bar that's in the room next to the living room .. Should I paint the redish wood part white and leave the top as is or should I just completely rip it out or should I leave it as is?

These pics are just to demonstrate that you can combine taupe, blue and brown. They are not for style.

those are too country for my taste. I like something a bit more modern edgy and dark like this picture but with blues and purples instead of oranges.. how can I pull this off?

I really do not see a problem with that. How much do you have for this sofa? I just did a chesterfield last night for $5000. Does it have to be leather? Most leathers out there are bonded or leatherette, is that even leather?

I would remove the bar altogether. I like the style of shirlpp's sofa. I also like the current colors in the space. Only things I would change are the light fixtures and install floor to ceiling curtains on the door to the right of the fireplace.

A black leather sectional? How South Philly. Unimaginative. And it will look overpowering.

The current layout is weird. The dining room table looks out of place. Each room area intrudes on the other. Do not get a round table. Go long and thin so that you can give the living room more room to breathe.

your best bet is atg and joybird for a quality leather sofa. most are not pure leather. I did come up with a couple but atg has pages.

That's not the actual dining room there's an actual dining room off the kitchen, the staging company put that table there. I agree that I think I'm going to take out the bar all together. For the sectional I'm hoping to only spend about $2500 and than another $1000 for area rug and window treatments.

I like white on white otherwise you suck the light and life out of a room. I say everything light cream with accent colors. Okay I am prejudice it's my design aesthetic. Here is my newly decorated living room as an example.

Ocotillaks - I agree that a sectional can be overpowering, however, in this space, I think... it works.

This room can definitely handle a sectional, but black will ruin the light airy feel of the room. You can be edgy without being blunt. I think I'd only do one seating area with the sectional pulled a good ways off the walls and facing both fireplace and sliding doors. I'd put chairs closer to the fireplace. Then I'd fill the big wall with eye-popping art.

I like your concept of gray walls and blue Persian rug, but not the black leather seats (as everyone has already mentioned). If you want a bold look, go with brown - it works well with gray and blue, but has some warmth in it.

I'm crazy about the reversible chaise sectionals. This "Jane" is by Gus and they do it in a regular sofa without the chaise as well. Jane is their "loft" size, so I think you might have room to use a pair of them(or one with a sofa.) This midnight happens to be my favorite color, but they have a good selection of other ones.

No, to black. Yes to a sectional in almost any other color, or non color like taupe, grey, or ivory, Lovely rooms.

How much privacy do you need? Perhaps sheers would be enough. Maybe you don't need anything on the patio doors since they're so close to the FP. New hi-tech UV window film might be advisable to prevent sun fade of flooring and furniture.

i love white sheers on any windows, if you want an upgrade i have a few, we still have not done much about color decisions though.

i adore the look below and you can make them your self as these were, sheers on top attach curtains to bottom, you always have light and noone sees in.

Just make sure that if you go with leather not to settle for bonded leather. It doesn't hold up.
