Hi, we are finishing a reno of a 100+ year old townhouse in Brooklyn NY. We have an open kitchen in our narrow house that is simply one galley wall and an opposite island, that runs for 10". We love intense color but have kept things light and neutral thus far b/c space is tight. Cabinets are white shaker style, with white marble tops and very old light pine floor.
For the back of the island - which will be the center of everything - we are considering using wallpaper to introduce some color and pattern. There will be five stools across the back of the island too, with a one foot overhang of the counter, and we have three kids who will be beating it all up. Do you think wallpaper would hold up there? Look good? Have any examples of this that you could point me too?
