Oops! I forgot to mention that this paint is horrible, and it needs to be repainted. We got a "bargain" on the paint, and it doesn't hold up to close inspection. I'm open to a new color. We do have the window film. We've had almost no fading, and it cuts the heat in the summer dramatically. The floors were ruined for the sun in our last morning room, so we learned that lesson the hard way. Here's a pic of the bar area. Thanks for the help! Btw, the table doesn't extend. I'm not sure we can do two lanterns. The new wiring would have to be on the slopes of the ceiling. It comes to a very narrow peak that is only wide enough for one fixture. Does that make sense?

Table size seems fine to me. I'm assuming you have a formal dining room for larger groups. Would the buffet fit in front of the lg window and then place two club chair where it is currently. Makes a more comfortable place for coffee, reading the paper or a chat. If there is not enough room for the buffet to be moved, if you don't really use it can you find it another home. Just depends on how you want to use the room. Like the chandelier. Does the current wall color flow with the kitchen? If not change it and the rug etc. if privacy is not a concern , don't touch those fabulous Windows. The bar doesn't seem big enough to put stools at.

Thank you, carolyngarland! I agree on the bar stools. We have two stools at the counter, and no one uses them unless we have company. You're right; we do need some more comfortable seating. I sit in here all the time, and it can get uncomfortable.

Such a beautiful room! There is so much to accent, never to cover. Consider a chandelier that would scatter light on the ceiling and upper walls.

I have dogs also and the lighter color rug hides the fur. :-)
I really like your chairs and would only suggest upholstered chairs because it's a morning room and the comfort of upholstered while drinking your morning coffee.

This color rug would go well with your blue-grey walls. What colors are you wanting to switch to? Stronger color and more contrast with the trim?

Consider repainting in Yarmouth Blue by Benjamin Moore. It's a grey-blue with some green. Very organic, blends beautifully with the outdoors, changes with the lighting. I think you need something more special, in terms of the chandelier than the one you are considering.

Some wall decor that's organic in soft shades would be pretty on the blue walls.

Thanks puremichigan60! I will spend some time looking at more chandelier options. I think a light rug is a good idea. I had a black one in here once, and ewww it was hairy looking! I'm not sure about a paint color. Our kitchen is dark with black granite and cherry cabinets. I don't want the morning room to get too dark.

I swapped my dining room chairs with my morning room chairs, and I think this will be much more comfortable. We rarely use the dining room anyway. Do these chairs work?

I am so glad that you are FINALLY going to spruce up that room.....:) !! It is a gorgeous space! I would never look at the decor or paint color!! I would always be looking outside!!

Yes, comfort is key! All the time you (I sure would) spend in that room, you should be comfortable. I do like your rug, it's understated, and offsets the grandeur of this space. I would put something on the table,, to bring those colors to eye level. You do have a dark dining set that goes very well with the blue walls and I agree that a morning space should be sunny, cheerful and bright.

Those chairs work well, but you don't need such a large rug under the table. It only needs to be 4' wider and longer than the table top. Find one you love and use a color from it for your new paint. If you can't expand the table, you don't need two fixtures, but you do need something more substantial if using a single fixture. If the bar is not used, consider removing the slab and finishing it more simply with a drywall top. Then put the buffet in front of the large window and use a small chair, table and lamp cornered by the bar for a reading nook.

Here is a sunroom you might want to emulate for your space. I think with a single or pair of club type chairs it would be lovely.

Hanging the chandelier inthe center of the roomwill cast even light all around. Floor or table lamps could be added for night lights on the console with the chairs on each end or pulled out and the table off to one side....play with it.

Check out the More Info site. It shows the room as oriented to the house and it is very similar to yours with a few deatils you cannot see in this pic!

What a perfectly magical room & the view is to die for! The large rug makes your table appear small. I can't see much difference in the dining vs morning room chairs, however if this room is used most often pick the most comfortable chairs. I would go with a larger light fixture. I wouldn't change the bar top as it can be easily used for buffet serving in the morning with a group of guests.

I would have to have a table that could extend in this spectacular space. And an easy chair or two would be most welcome when the table is not extended. Have fun.

I think you're right, sandradclark. I'll start checking Craigslist for a larger table. It would be nicer to use this room when we have more people. The dining room is blah.

If you are considering a larger table then your carpet, which is lovely, could stay. If you picked up the sagey green from the carpet pattern for wall color I think it would fit in nicely with the view and your kitchen cabinets.
I agree that there have been several chandeliers that might be a better choice than your original pick. Beautiful room. Our view is very similar to yours but we have to go outdoors to enjoy it. So jealous :-)

Change the room to a wonderful relaxing haven. Remove the carpet add a small sofa and some comfy chairs and enjoy the outside! Natural light is wonderful and remove rug and paint in a shade of the sky on a bright day.

You already got some nice tips and I know you don't need curtains for privacy, but how about some decorative curtains to soften the look and make the windows appear like the whole wall is made of windows? I would hang a couple of sheer white panels on the side windows.

A lighter table or chairs would spruce the space up a bit. I would also go for a traditional rug.

I would also use a round light fixture. Something like this would go well in your space.

I'm thinking that this fixture might be a better choice based on the feedback. What do you think?
