Need an idea for painted balusters in the stair railing.

the railing is oak and I have painted white balusters. I wanted to change the balusters to iron, but my husband doesnt want to do that. Was thinking staining the railing and balusters to match. Does my hard wood floor have to match the stain color. Any other ideas?
