Is this an open-front gas fireplace?

I'm not sure whether the concept would pass inspection/insurance in my area unfortunately..

I would love an open front gas fireplace, how do you figure out if this will pass code?

Most areas in the US allow open front fireplaces. Are you in California or Denver or some other place where open fireplaces are banned?

If so, I would recommend instead a direct-vent fireplace with a similar media, like below:
