Are you certain that you need that kind of refrigerator? Does the door configuration make the most sense in your kitchen? You are definitely limiting yourself by insisting upon that configuration and counter depth.

Adding to what practigal said, bear a several things in mind, One is that, according to Consumer Reports membership surveys of appliance buyers, pretty much all brands of FD fridges are running about a 15- 20% major problem rate over the first five years after purchase. The second is that counter-depth anything is aimed at the high end market which is far more likely to generate a posted complaint if anything goes wrong. Third, p-o'd customers are more likely to post than pleaded ones. Fourth, CD-FD models are airmed at higher end buyers, That means that a very high percentage of CD models have through-the-door dispensers and those things are far and away the equipment items most likely to cause problems with a fridge.

A further thing to consider is how many of the complains are about the fridge and how many are about poor warranty, sales and post-sale support.
Now, if 20% of CD fridges generate complaints, then 80% are fine. That means four out of five chug along for years without problems. It also means that one-in-five generates a ticked off customer. Question is: how you feel about those odds?
