Hi, We are taking out the flue etc. of a nice masonry fireplace we do not use so that we can capture some space upstairs to enlarge a shower. Builder wants to permanently seal up the fireplace opening in the den so no one tries to build a fire. I am looking at either adding plug in electric logs (behind a screen and glass doors so they do not have to look all that realistic but I don't want them to scream fake either) OR securing the existing glass doors so they cannot be opened. I would rather just leave it alone with something decorative in the opening so it should be obvious the fireplace is not operational but the builder is apparently concerned about his future liability. Any thoughts or advice? Photos? Thanks!
