the china cabinet is dated, to help this consider ,, painting it, also consider updating the stuff inside. but honestly, it's out of place, and the wall would be much better with art, leading you in from the entry.

I agree with @flair. Also, you don't need anything else in the entry way. You need to declutter both the entry way and the cabinet.

Don't feel bad about taking stuff with you. It takes time to purge and donate.

Just do one cupboard at a time. Don't try to do it all in one day. You could try chalk painting the wall unit if you have to keep it. Easy and you don't have to prime.

Do you have some inspiration photos? and photos of each wall in the room?

The entrance doesn't need something it needs less stuff, that table is a hazard to navigation.

Start by de-decorating the rooms. Donate about 80% of the stuff to Goodwill or have a yard sale. It is way too crowded and chaotic. Once you declutter, then you can see the bones.

Sounds like you tried to purge your items but were not successful. Maybe your decor items have sentimental value, and you don't want really want to let them go.

Another option is to rotate them. Put half your items away in a storage closet, and display half. You're in good company if you do this - many museums only display a portion of their collections at any time. Your items may not be valuable in money, but if they mean something to you then try this option.

Remember too that your 3-part display cabinets can be taken apart. They may look better separated.

Cozy little room, but looks like it has become a catch-all for everything you didn't have a spot for somewhere else. Other than the sofa, pick one table, one display unit and three items or collections that are the most important to you. Hopefully, the furniture pieces you choose will relate to each other in style. I'd say that the coffee table is too large for the sofa (should be 1/3 - 1/2 of the width between sofa's arms,) the corner china cabinet is too short, and the big display is too big. Hopefully you aren't sentimental about any of them.

We haven't seen all the walls. Can you stand where the corner china cabinet is, and take a photo towards the opposite corner? I wonder what is on the wall to the left of the fireplace, facing the long cabinets. And what is on the wall facing the window.

How will the room be used? Is it the primary TV room? Is it used mostly by children or adults? There doesn't seem to be much seating, only for 2.

Could the corner hutch go in the corner where the screen currently stands? That would leave room for an upholstered chair in the corner.

It seems that you have a rattan chair with a yellow cushion. It does not go well with your sofa.

After studying your last pictures, here are a few suggestions you could try to re-arrange your new place.

1. switch the white high back chair and slipper chair, then put your the round table from entrance in between.

2. The tall mirror in the corner, could you hang that near the front door, good for one last look before leaving.

3. The end tables on the right, switch with table on the left. They are taller, so prob should be in the corner.

You have quite a lot of furniture to work with, so it may take a few moves to get it looking good. You will eventually need a rug for the livingroom area.

seems to me you are a bit more traditional. and so are your belongings, so try not to veer too much into the contemporary stuff ie: lime green.

lssey, you are doing good. Take your time and keep us posted. You can do it and you will feel so much better. Just a bit each day - don't try to do it all at once you will get frustrated and stop altogether.

put the lime chair in the right corner. put the rocker where the lime chair was, and find a new spot for the little chairs.
