Do a Houzz search on kitchens, refine by white cabinetry. My guess is you are right, he is wrong, and Houzz provides the concrete proof. Take a look at those pictures, and scroll down to the others from the home in the same ideabook to see how it flows into the rest of the home. Good luck!

You can definitely accent he cabinets with a different color crown and toe kick, being that its off white consider doing it a mocha or a rich brown.
