i am moving old attic stairs which used to be in a bedroom ,and converted that spot to a bathroom. i need a new place for stairs. according to architect drawing (attached below) he placed them in the hallway and removed the width from the bedroom right next to it ( the red line is original size of bedroom - approx 8.5 x 10.5) however the width of the bedroom is 8.5 ft, and 3ft for a landing gives only approx 5 feet of space for stairs

he was recommending one of those alternating step stairs to save the space- and we'll be left with a tiny room of approx 7.5 x 8.5 which well use as a nursery / small office off the masterbdrm, or for a kid who needs their own room if that needs ever arises

im concerned that those stairs arent so practical for everyday use (2 bdrms in attic)

-2 other possible options:

1) flip stairs around and then we can use some space over the other stairs to extend staircase (still not so much room, and it wont open the hallway as much as drawing shows.)

2) make a 3ft hallway in that bdrm and put attic stairs above regular stairs. problem with this is, it will make the bedroom around 5 x 10.5 which doesnt seem practical for anything...

any suggestions, ideas, comments? other options where to place the stairs? other design?
