    Hardie cement board is what was used, but a similar look could be achieved with high end vinyl.

    Thank you. I am worried about using vinyl board and batten. I'm worried it won't look good. I'm wondering if I shouldn't just do lap all over instead.

    it is one of my favorites that I have designed over the years. With the modern farmhouse style you don't have to have anything specific. It is almost supposed to look like it is a main house with a few additions on it. good luck.
