I'm usually in the table + art camp, but given that you have sort of the same arrangement just a bit farther down the wall, you might want something different here. Do you not have a front closet? If not, then a wardrobe or even an entry bench with some hooks could do the job.

id find a wall unit that has cubbies so you can hang coats and store scarves hats etc.
