In the room with the dining table: Simply turn the table lengthwise with and nearer to the wind. The indented wall should have built in cabinets, some with glass, that holds everything you need to serve at a table. You have the space to do upper shelves,(dishes) a counter, and lower drawers.(serving pieces, etc), and a nice mirror on the back wall to reflect light.

Some built-in shelving in the enclosed space opposite the window would be both functional and not impinge on the area available for the dining table. For the wall between the window and the enclosed space, a large framed piece of art (or two) would make the space more cozy and give it a finished look. I am a travel and nature photographer, so of course, I would suggest one of my own pieces! ;-D

I agree with some sort of built-in storage wall.

TURN THE TABLE THE OTHER DIRECTION, THEN BUY A BUFFET WITH STORAGE AND EITHER MIRROR ABOVE OR SHELVES ABOVE.. YOU MIGHT NEED A SMALLER AREA RUG (OR MAYBE IT CAN BE CUT AND BOUND).

I'm clueless about the back wall then.. What to put there since its off center with the ceiling drop.. Maybe a set of 3 piece art??? I'd love to do bench seating along the wall and ditch that table and come up with something different. I have done the Buffett table thing and I'm not sure I likes how I centered everything was. I love open space also. It's the sunniest warmest room in the house and I love to sit there.

agree with the others that table needs turning,and would put shelfing on the wall to the side of it opposite the window,then the rug will be fine and you have a wall for some art and how about a lamp above the table??,

Would anyone suggest a nook type table to open the space for more seating and living space??? Or am I way off?

just install 2 or 3 drawers ...Some lights would be nice too...

@celerygirl... It's not an actual Indent in the wall. There is a doorway to the living space that you can't see... Ill have to post another pic of the area.. I love all the feedback I'm getting!!!!

you could gat a unit to fitt,there is no problem walking in then and it makes a use of the wallspace and will leave you room for your nooktable!!
