Hi houzzers!

I have a little question for you all: I am currently finalising the aesthetic choices for a kitchen , and my dilemma is: MAT OR SHINY FRONTS FOR THE CABINETRY?!?
The kitchen is semi open ( you get in through a wide 1.10 meter and high 2.80 meter opening in the wall)
All the walls and the ceiling will be a very dark chocolate brown ( java, resource) so that you have all the cabinetry standing out, light on dark.

The kitchen is facing north east, looking onto a forest trough a very big glass door and big glass fix window (180x150 cm). The picture shows the fix window: the countertop flows into the frame, it is at worktop level.

We have chosen MATT FRONTS in a very light cream matching exactly the colour of the backsplash ( Patricia Urquiola DECHIRER oversized tile from Mutina in the White)

It is a very sleek modern kitchen, with brushed aluminium handles, Choco brown ceramic countertops ...

It is a small kitchen by US standards, about 14 square meters, that is why I decided on the bold dark walls and ceiling: the whole flat is very open and airy, and the contrast will be interesting ( I hope!)

Floor is a satin finish concrete ( longani colour, Sc+, Mercadier )

But I are having my doubts .... Would shiny lacquered fronts be a better option to bring in more contrast and light ?

The choice for Matt was because it really is more the trend here in Switzerland now and it is more modern. It also matches all the integrated cabinetry which is white, Matt, no handles, super simple....

But will it eat up more light in the kitchen? The whole house is really light, lots of Windows everywhere, and the forrest isn't a dense pine one, more of a contrasting foliage type, but still...

So : MATT OR SHINY FRONTS, WHAT DO YOU THINK??!?
I have to tell my kitchen builder by next Monday at the latest!
