Granite backsplash issue

We just replaced our twelve year old range yesterday. The new one has controls on the front (photo on the left) while the old one had the controls on a raised panel in the back (photo right). I love the look of the new range, but now a large vein in the granite backsplash shows and I hate the look. Had I realized this at the time of granite installation I would have refused the slab...but now what options do I have? Grateful for all assistance!

Honestly, I would suggest living with it for a a few weeks to make sure you actually feel that you don't like it after a day of noticing it, instead of it just being something 'new' you didn't really notice before. IMHO, it really doesn't look 'bad' or 'off', just shows off the gorgeous stone more. While you live with it, try to keep an open mind towards it and see where it goes. ;) Good Luck!

I think that's the beauty of granite and I like the vein. I believe you should embrace it.

Personally, I like it. I replaced backsplash with granite and had a vein run behind my range. It ran more diagonally, though. After awhile, it didn't stand out, just became a part of the backsplash.

I love the vein. It's also perfectly center over the stove. Like a piece of art.

A stainless steel backsplash could back the stove. Personally, I would live with it.

It is very pretty! And it's only a few more inches that are visible than before. I think this is just a matter of you getting used to the new look. I often dislike granite as backsplash, but I really like yours. Embrace the variations in the granite, it is a natural material and that is the appeal!

I think it looks beautiful but if you
really dislike it, you could hang a metal plaque to cover most of it.

I personally think that the veining is beautiful. I agree with the others and say live with it for awhile before making changes.

I also think the veining is beautiful. Are you able to open the oven door w/o hitting the cabinet handle? Seems like an odd placement for the range...

Yes, there is plenty of clearance. The area is roomier than it looks in the photo.

I too love the vein running through the granite and you should embrace it. Try living with it for a few weeks and you may change your mind. Otherwise Mary V has a great point you could place a decorative object there such as a metal plaque.
