How old are these leaves? If the leaves are from the bottom row - they are probably getting tired...

So - you do not have any discoloration on the top side of the leaf, correct? And your flowers are good - the shape is good, the color is correct? Is only one plant or other AVs are affected?

I only saw this type of changes on the old tired leaves that need to be removed. What will happen if you remove these leaves and repot your plant in a fresh soil? Will they come back?

Many of the leaves are old, but there are also spots on the leaves closer to the crown. I have also had some wilting around the edges of some leaves, and a couple of the leaves are just slightly deformed.

No, I can't see any spots on the tops of the leaves, except for some wilting around the edges of a couple of leaves close to the crown. The shape of the plant is good, color is good. It recently bloomed, and right after it bloomed was when I started noticing the spots. There is one other violet that has one or two spots like this, also on the backs of leaves. But that plant only has one or two small spots on a mature leaf.

Since the crown of the most affected plant also has these spots, I wasn't sure whether repotting would help. I have taken some leaves to try and root though.

I'll try to get some pictures of the whole plant up sometime today.

After inspecting my plant again, I decided to chuck it. I took some leaves to root, but I didn't feel comfortable keeping the sick plant with all my other violets. I am still interested to know what it was though. I think it was a fungal problem, but I'm not so sure it was just powdery mildew. There were definitely some signs of sickness at the crown of the plant. Much of it was dry and crusty, not wet or soft. And it went all the way to the neck/crown of the plant. As I unpotted the plant to throw it away, I did examine the soil and roots, and everything looked good there.

How discouraging!

I think it is a very wise decision. If it s only one and the rest are healthy...it doesn't make a difference if it is bacterial, fungal or viral infection... OUT!

But so sad. My Optimara Modesty! Hopefully I will get some healthy babies by and by...
