Painting my sewing room. Need help with color,

My sewing room is in a room just off of my husband's newly re-done "man cave". (It's the entire downstairs family and kitchen. He did it in stone and grey.) There is a double door that closes it (my sewing room) off from the rest of the area. I removed the wallpaper and now need to paint. I guess I should try to be somewhat compliant with the grey but I can't stand the thought of a grey sewing room. The cabinets are white and, of course the new carpet is grey. What would be a good choice for color on the walls. I was thinking a shade of yellow. Thoughts, anyone?

I know you don't care for grey but there is a color called Dove gray that is beautiful. It is more silvery blue than gray and it isn't dull either. I did it in my living room and everyone always asks what color it is. As an added bonus, it is very calming. Much needed when you reach a frustration point in a project. Anyway, since this posting is old now I assume you picked a color out. What did you go with in the end?

Peggy, I don't feel like you need to go with grey at all! Its such a neutral color that both your husband's cave,carpet and white cabinets allow wonderful possibilities.

Gray is a neutral so you can select virtually any color. Do a houzz search of "sewing rooms" for a rainbow of inspiration.

You have a lot of color choices that would go with the gray. I would do with a color that makes you feel calm and happy. So when things get stressful whist sewing the color on the wall can help keep you calm. Go look at paint chips and even buy some test paint colors and test it out on the wall and see what you like the best.

I would do something fun. I think it's one of the only places it won't look absurd other than a kids room to have bright colors. I love bright colors :)

I love to sew! Depending on your storage situation and where you put your materials, you may want to keep the room more neutral no matter what color you go with. Sewing and craft rooms tend to have a lot of color just from the fabric and projects. I have light grey walls with some wallpaper going up on 1 wall, as soon as my honey-do gets to it, and it is not the workspace wall. Sherwin Williams pearly white with Waverly birdsong wall paper. The wall paper has a bit of metallic that goes with the grey. This is what made me happy! Are you opposed to wallpaper?
