We put in a Shiloh kitchen (white, inset) last year. I thought the quality was very good. But we ended up selling that home so I can't say anything about the longer term durability--only used them for a few months. We're now starting the process again in our new home and looking at 3 brands for the sake of comparison: Shiloh, Starmark, and Showplace. All seem pretty comparable but the Shiloh price is several thousand dollars more than both Showplace and Starmark. Of course it could just be the dealer markup. But I'm trying to do due diligence in figuring out the difference between the lines. It is so hard to compare accurately. And the internet really doesn't help much because for each brand there are both negative and positive reviews.

I have Shiloh inset cabinets (perimeter are white painted maple and island is maple Silas finish w/black glaze). They have been in for a little over 2 years and I am still very happy with them. I had no issues with them being delivered with any imperfections and my installer said that he was very impressed with their quality.

In my area, Shiloh prices out less than Showplace, if using standard sizes. But once you customize, then Showplace is the better price, usually.

I posted above, and after much research and inter-comparison went with Shiloh again in my new kitchen. The cabinets were installed last week, and once again they are just perfect. I got a Shaker, inset door, big crown molding, stacked to the ceiling, soft white. The installers were impressed with them. To date I've moved everything back to the kitchen and am just waiting on the countertops.

In terms of price, I found that Showplace, Starmark, and Shiloh were nearly identical. I didn't like the Starmark finishes as much (or the dealer). Showplace was great but more expensive for my customized work (just as The Kitchen Place mentions above). I priced Shiloh at two different local dealers and found that one had quite a bit of a markup versus the other. All in all, I did a lot of inter-comparing and legwork and think I got a great deal on wonderful cabinets.

Hi Cassandra...Glad you love your new kitchen! I love both Shiloh and Showplace and I'm a dealer for both. Typically, Shiloh is less. However, Showplace is less if you need to customize sizes and add modifications. I think you misunderstood what I wrote.

I just finished a project in Arctic White and their fairly new River Rock (poplar) finish. It's a great combination! The kitchen is in "punch list mode" and isn't quite done...so ignore the unprofessional photos! :-) I plan to have this re-photographed for our Houzz profile.

The Kitchen Place, this is beautiful! Do the poplar hold up as well as maple?

The Kitchen Place, I have the same question - I wish they had the Riverrock stain on Maple, but all they have is Poplar, and I'm nervous about such a soft wood.

I also finally had a chance to look at some samples of Shiloh (Eclipse frameless) cabs over the weekend, and was somewhat underwhelmed, although I'm comparing them to Brookhaven frameless that we installed in 2012 (previous house). They didn't feel as solid, and the sides of the drawer dovetails were rough and could scratch and catch fabric - even on the "upgraded" 3/4" drawer. And if that was the sample, I worry about the final product.

Can you let us know how that Riverrock cabinet has worked out for the customer? Thanks!

I had a bad experience with showplace and would not recommend them at all. They did not stand behind their product. I had cream cabinets with a glaze. The garbage door wore thru where the handle was and it had like a corrugated board underneath. It then became fuzzy like cardboard. They would not replace the door.

That is one bad thing about pull out trash containers, Denise. They get the most wear and tear of any cabinet in your kitchen. I doubt any cabinet line would warranty a trash unit where the finish came off.

Post a picture? I'd love to see it. I used to carry showplace. It's a good cabinet line. We just dropped it because their prices went up and we decided we had to downsize our offerings so not to confuse our clients too much. We also had shiloh, which is a very similar cabinet line...and shiloh won.

These are Shiloh cabinets. I like the fact that upper cabinets are 13" deep. The lazy susan is quite substantial and holds quite a few pots and pans. So far, I am impressed.

Rachiele, is that your kitchen? I like how you extended the hood to ceiling with drywall and it's painted, along with the walls to blend in with the cabinets. Looks amazing! Is that Arctic White Paint w/ Bourbon - Cherry?

Yes, that is our kitchen. Thank you for the compliment. Polar with cafe glaze, Island and hood is maple spice with black glaze.

I purchased Shiloh maple cabinets in Silas for our kitchen remodel in 2020. I did so much research on cabinets and this brand had good reviews. I went out to a showroom and saw them and really liked what I saw. We made our purchase and I couldn't be more disappointed. They have not held up day to day use in our home. Our old builder grade cabinets held up better than these. I have to be so careful not to lean up against the cabinets or let the mixer cord drop because it will make a ding. I have messaged Shiloh several times but they have not replied.

Carie, That's so odd! I have a Silas Alder display that is 16 years old...maybe older...and it looks brand new. Alder is a lot softer than Maple too. Maybe you got alder instead of maple. When you say ding....do you mean an actual dent in the wood??? Can you post pics?

Hello. I actually selected Maple because i wanted a more durable cabinet. The invoice shows Maple from where we purcashased them. Some of dings are small and some are pretty significant. My son leaned too close to the silverware drawer and it scratched the drawer. I’ll post a frw photos. I sent a message to Shiloh twice and never received a response from them.

Also, panel shrinkage exposing unfinished material? Or what are those white lines on the panels where they meet the frames?

The damage goes into the wood. Its hard to see in the photos because I used a stick that the contracor left to fill in the scatches. The lines are from the nickel glaze.
