We are in a pied-a-terre kitchen for empty nesters near Lincoln Center, New York City.

The homeowner says this is for the look, more than to
cook.

She needs only an undercounter refrigerator, 18” dishwasher, 12”
electric cooktop, would like the cabinets to match the walls, a granite
counter top with two stools and use her own tiles for the backsplash.

I compliment her that the tiles will provide subtle texture.

I then explain my philosophy on designing with the Fibonacci numbers
and Golden Rectangle.

The Golden Rectangle is the proportion that beauty is based on. Your
credit card has golden proportions where the height is 62% of the width. By good fortune these wall cabinets are the
exact same proportion. Within a golden rectangle is a square with another
golden rectangle turned the other direction. The double doors form a square and the left door is a golden rectangle. The wrought iron shaped Nautilus spiral screwed onto the doors fits perfectly within these dimensions.
