This is a transitional kitchen (between contemporary and traditional). A traditional Shaker cabinet would have flat slab drawers as well (except for some of the larger ones). Basically, there are no rules about what you *can* and *cannot* do. Best is to consider the overall style and makes sure the parts are harmonious and consistent. Bottom line, however, is to do what you like.
