Makeup Mirror

I've been following the posts regarding makeup and skin care and have on my list to purchase the makeup sponge. However, I am wondering how/wear you all apply your makeup. Do you use a makeup mirror with magnification and different light selections or do you just use the bathroom vanity and lighting? thanks!

I figure that all day long I might be under various types of lighting, so I just do it at my vanity, the big mirror, with the natural and artificial lighting in the room. I use the magnifying mirror for plucking brows.

I have a lighted makeup mirror on a vanity in my bedroom.

I use the regular mirror in my bathroom usually but for plucking eyebrows, etc., I use the lighted make up mirror in my teenage daughter's bedroom. I admit that I've considered getting one for myself but it does make me nostalgic as I had almost the exact same one when I was her age.

I use a magnifying mirror on my dresser in front of a window with natural light in the morning. I use a small super duper magnifying mirror for plugging my eyebrows.

I have this little lighted magnifying mirror that I use for plucking and applying eye makeup. I apply the rest of my makeup while looking in the mirror over the sink but always check it in the magnifier before I head out. :-)

I have a SimpleHuman lighted magnifyng mirror that sits on the bathroom windowsill. I only use the light when it's dark outside.

Turquoise, did you buy that large mirror or did it come with your house? Would love to buy something similar for one of our bathrooms.

I have a lighted magnification mirror, wall-mounted, in the bathroom.

Mine is the same (or at least very similar) as TR's. The light can be adjusted. It is magnified on one side and normal on the other. I really like it. Think I purchased it at BB&B and I believe Costco carries a similar one, made by Conair.

ETA: sorry about spelling the "wear" instead of WHERE, thanks for all the replies.

i use a magnifying mirror, but only use the light(led)for brief periods of time... i notice if i use it for more than a few seconds, i'll 'see rings' for a while and i hate that!! (like the dots that a camera flash give me, but longer lasting!)

the 1st time i used the light, it was at night and i used the light for plucking and my makeup and i saw rings for quite a few minutes afterwards and was kindof worried, but it finally went away- the amount of time i look at the light is directly related to how long i see those rings...

Justine, thank you for asking this. I was actually starting a post about make up mirrors yesterday but it was running late and I had shopping to do.

My DMIL gave me a lighted make up mirror that hangs on the wall. When I had my bathroom painted I took it down as it was a shiny polished brass and didn't go with my polished chrome and nickel fixtures. I am looking for a different one and wondered what everyone else uses. I bought a cheapy plastic one but it only has 5X and I need 10X magnification. I am thinking I will replace it with this:

http://www.amazon.com/Danielle-Revolving-Wall-Mounted-Lighted-Mirror/dp/B0023RSY9W/ref=sr_1_54_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1456667630&sr=8-54&keywords=make+up+mirrors The only thing I don't like is the LED lighting around it because I don't need the additional light.

I apply my make up in the bathroom that has both artificial and natural light. Looking in a magnifying mirror can be quite the experience but I think good make up application and making sure there are no harsh lines or smudges is more important than the shock of all the fine lines you see.

4kids, the mirrors are over each sink and were builder installed.

4kids- TR's mirror is very similar to our uttermost sinatra mirror- you might want to check it out. i can't tell if TR's has mottling between the bead and the outer rim- ours is mottled- mostly dark brown mottling but with a little gold tone too...

I put make-up on in my bedroom where I have natural light. I don't use a lighted make-up mirror, although I use a small magnifying mirror for plucking eyebrows, etc.

I have a two sided mirror, one side is normal the other is 5x magnification. I put on my makeup in front of the window using the 5x side.

I need the magnification for applying my eye make up and for final inspection to ensure that I don't have stray unblended lines or bits of eyeshadow under my eye.

I still use my old lighted makeup mirror ... it has one big two-sided mirror (I use the close-up side) in the middle, and two smaller, fold-up side mirrors. It also has four lighting options--I use the "daylight" one to apply make-up, then check the finished look with the other lights.

This is a timely thread, as my lighted makeup mirror died yesterday morning. I use mine everyday and keep it on my dressing table in our bathroom. I'm hoping that DH can fix it in the next day or so because I feel lost without it now. If he can't, I'm going to be searching this thread for recommendations on a new one.
