It would help to see more of this room. Others might say to put curtains over your windows above the couch but I wouldn't . I think it will make the room seem smaller. I would consider one large piece of art over your sofa ( should be about 3/4 the width of the sofa) or three similarly framed and sized prints over the sofa. You could use some more color as well- maybe pillows with a touch of magenta since you have a bloom with that color, or pillows with teal or orange. I colored your pillows so you could see how adding pops will warm up the space:

The oic is dark hard to even tell what the floors are olease post a couple more pics. Ican see vertical blinds which is IMO the first thing to go .

You can put something decorative in the center window above the sofa-glass, sculpture, etc. And as previously suggested art above sofa. The lamp on the end table may be a little small

Thank you all for the advice! Here are more photos. I literally turned on every light in the house! We hardly have any natural light due to lack on Windows. We live in a patio style home. I know we need new artwork and pillows just having a hard time with what to get and where to get them. A new lamp is a great idea. I just realized the lamp shade matches the wall and I don't like that. I don't like the vertical blinds either but I don't know what to put there in place of them.... Hmm.

Oh and our living room is carpet. Would love to replace and continue with the wood that is in the entry, kitchen and eating nook.

Will do some online shopping to give you some ideas....

So likely if you have a Home Goods store near you , you can find canvas wall art. Also you can always find nice framed art at local decent thrift stores. So don't fret over the art. If you are going to add a wood floor, then add an area rug. If you aren't worried about traffic and spills, a white shag would be fun . Or you can find something light with one or all of the above colors in it.

Wow!!! Thank you so much Diane!! I like the 2nd idea! I just bought a cool mirror from Cost Plus today to put above the couch to see how it works. If that doesn't work I will give that 2nd look a try! I appreciate your work on helping me!! I feel much better about my living room already :)

I also added some yellow pillows I already had to the room which seems to have brightened it up. :)

I'm not a professional or anything but maybe find 2 patterned curtains that hang down to the floor to cover the Windows ? Unless u want that natural light to come in but you could still open the curtains and have a picture hung there still just to give the walls some color. Just throwing it out
